Hokowhitu Village Centre

Established in 2011, Hokowhitu Village Centre (HVC) is nestled in the heart of Hokowhitu Village at 356 Albert Street. We are a voluntary organisation of people working together to foster friendship and to strengthen our community. You can come along and chat with one of our Volunteers who work in pairs for two-hour shifts.

We have an excellent library of good quality donated books, jigsaws, DVDs and children’s books to borrow. Excess stock is sold to supplement funds for running the Centre.

The Manawatū Standard is provided daily. There is a scrabble group on 1st and 3rd Wednesday at 1.30 pm. Justice of the Peace services are available each Thursday 10.30 am to 12.30 pm. We have a monthly morning tea on the 3rd Tuesday, a Knit and knatter group on 2nd and 4th Thursday, and Te Reo Māori classes on Monday at 10.30.

We are also accredited by Sport Manawatu to offer Strength and Balance classes. These are on Thursday at 9.30 in the St Alban's Church Hall, corner St Alban's Street and Albert Street. You need to register your interest with Helen on 027 444 8215, or chair@hokowhituvillagecentre.net.nz

Our venue is available for hire for meetings and activities.

We recently celebrated our ten-year anniversary. Pictured are some of the founding members: Duncan Mackenzie, Carole Hamlin, Jenny Mackenzie, Patricia Macgregor, Margaret Gregory, Gerald Gregory, Joan Chettleburgh, Lynne Vautier, Glen Eustace and Rosanne Eustace.
