Palmerston North Brass Band

Palmerston North Brass Band is the oldest organisation in Palmerston North, technically pre-dating Palmerston North City itself! Established in 1868, we have been providing entertainment to Palmerston North residents for over 150 years.

We play a wide range of music, from classical, traditional brass band pieces, right through to arrangements of pop songs. We get involved in community events as frequently as possible, and you may have seen us at Relay for Life, Anzac Day services, Explore Esplanade Days, in the Christmas Parade, or just popping up for a spontaneous performance around town!

In addition to our brass band, we also facilitate lessons for anyone who wants to learn a brass instrument and run an 'academy band' for learners to try playing in a band setting without the pressure of being in a full band.

How to Join

Just pop in during our rehearsals! We welcome everyone into our band-rooms, whether you just want to listen and check us out, or if you want to play with us for a session, or even discuss joining the band, feel free to come along to one of our rehearsals and introduce yourself. We can also facilitate lessons if you would like to learn to play a brass instrument.

Alternatively, you can contact us through our website or Facebook page.

Membership Fees

Our current membership fees are $75 for one year.

If you wish to learn a brass instrument, please contact us through our website or Facebook page to discuss the fees for lessons and instrument hire.

When and where we meet

Palmerston North Brass Band rehearses twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays at 7:30 pm. Our band-rooms are located at 57 Totara Road in Awapuni.
